We are in the process of moving the orphanage from Kathmandu to the village in Lamjung area. By moving the orphanage to the village, this will enable them to be completely self-sufficient which has the goal.

No longer will they have to worry about paying rent, school fees or not having enough fresh fruits, vegetables or meat to feed the children. They will be able to grown their own food and raise animals. At present they currently have rice paddies in which they grow their own rice.

The village is a very friendly community in which everyone helps one another. The school there has a 70% literacy rate which is very good for a developing country.

Our goal is to start building in June of 2010.

The new orphanage will have the capacity to house more than 30 children. There will also be a store for Buddhimans tailor shop, guest rooms for volunteers, common area with library, tv area, study/dining area, a kitchen, 5 bathrooms, dorm type bedrooms, one for boys and one for girls as the children like to stay in the same area. office/computer room.

The estimated price for this is approx.$35,000 to $50,000 depending on the exchange rate at the time we are able to get started.  We will have a definite price in February once we get to the village and work with the local suppliers on what the cost for supplies and transportation will be.

We have recently purchased one piece of land to put the orphanage on and would like to buy 2 more pieces of land to grow food and raise animals.
